Folder Mute Status being recalled when Snapshot Data Recall Filter for Mute disabled

    Hey @Andrew_Scheps

Did some stems last week and forgot to unmute some Folders that I had selected for a Solo Pass. As I had the Snapshot Data Recall Filter disabled for everything, I figured I can just save the session after I've unmuted the Folder, rather than redoing the entire Snapshot. Yet, everytime a Snapshot was recalled, the Folders in question remembered that they were muted when the Snapshot was saved, and the Snapshot muted them when it ran. To me it would make sense if they followed the Data Recall Filter?
Is it normal behaviour for Folder mutes to ignore the Snapshot Filter?

            Hey @Forrester_Savell ,

It definitely shouldn’t override the session if it’s disabled in the recall filter. Do you still have the snapshots in the app? If so please send user files. If not, whenever something like that happens please save the user files right away.

Is there any chance there was mute automation on the folders? And a stupid question, when you saved the session with the folders unmuted you saved over the original session right?

I did grab user files and a video of it happening but i didn't keep that Snapshot. However I was able to recreate the same issue again this morning, albeit the same session. So you have two videos and user files here, plus the new Snapshot. The second video shows that the Data Filter is disabled.

Ah, I just re-read your post. The way to fix it for this session would be to make sure the recall filter is still off and resave the session with mute automation breakpoints to keep them unmuted.
The only parameters that will always override the session are mute, solo and playlists. If you re-save the session with different states of those parameters BF will put them back. That's how you can have multiple mix passes within one snapshot, otherwise you would have to take a snapshot for every mix pass. I looked into tagging the tracks that had changed from the original session and only changing those, but it doesn't really work in all circumstances so I had to make it the way it is.
Also, the mute parameters in the recall filter would be overridden as well, unless you had mute automation.

                          Thanks Andrew

Basic folders don't have mute automation, so I'll just have to not be lazy and redo the Snapshot next time! Carry on.

If you ever get into this situation again let me know and I can actually edit the Snapshots for you. It's too hairy to let end users do it themselves, but to keep you from having to make a million Snapshots again I don't mind at all.

                                  Appreciate that offer thanks Andrew.

I have a question for you regarding stemming process/efficiency using BF. Let me know if you want me to post this as a new question.

Sometimes I'm asked to print Vocals with & without effects. I haven't managed to think of a way to automatically produce both those stem outputs using the same Snapshot, without manually going into my session and inactivating the FX returns, then running the Vocal snapshot again, after having run the normal solo Vocal stem with FX. Is there a setup/process in PT that you can think of that would be able to output Soloed tracks with FX, plus muted effects tracks, within the single Snapshot setup?

Nope, that’s the whole idea of the snapshots. If all you need to do is solo, mute, and/or switch playlists it can all happen in one snapshot. As soon as you want to do something else, then you’re into multiple snapshots. Basically, anything you would need the data recall filter for means you need multiple snapshots.
