Meta Commands

Are “meta commands” only for developers? Or is that a feature anyone can make use of in their scripting?

      Hi @Anthony_Bauman,

Yes, due to the complexity of creating Meta Commands, this feature is reserved for SoundFlow Developers only.

If you have any specific workflow in mind for Meta commands please feel free to request them in the ideas section of the forum. :-)

is this permanent or can we expect it in the future?

Right now there are no plans to change this, due to the complexities of creating meta-commands.

We'd love to hear what you are trying to achieve, so If you have any specific requests for meta-commands be sure to request them in the Ideas section of the forum, that way they will be logged for consideration for future updates. :-)

No ideas in particular, I just miss the early days of soundflow where we would see people creating complicated scripts in the forum and discussing things we don't understand and eventually learning from all that and implementing them in our scripts. It's kind of discouraging seeing everything locked out and only reserved for a few, but I guess it was too good to be true hehe.

                  Thanks for your feedback @Nacho_Sotelo,

Meta commands involve quite complex javascript knowledge, and also a deep understanding of advanced concepts bespoke to SoundFlow. Members of the SoundFlow developer program go through a great deal of training to create dynamic content like this.

Adding Meta Commands opens up the possibility of many workflows that we did not think possible. As an example, most recently we've been able to bring support for Stream Deck Plus knobs allowing you to trigger SoundFlow commands from Left and Right movements.

I'm sorry if you feel discouraged and locked out, but it is by no means our intention. Our team does its best to help the community out by creating complex scripts and macros and we foster ideas for the whole community.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, we value your feedback.

On a side note. If you are interested in being considered for the next round of the SoundFlow Developer program. Please reach out via the Chat on our website. :-)

On another note if you are interested in learning more about SoundFlow and discussing Ideas with me and others in the SoundFlow community. Be sure to join us in the SoundFlow Hangout that we host on Zoom Wednesdays 11 am PST. It's a super casual session where discuss creating macros and commands and often dig deep into Javascript and how to apply it to SoundFlow workflows.
