    1. Hi Jake,

We strongly recommend against using SoundFlow to try to bypass macOS security restrictions. The reason this doesn't work in the way you're trying to automate it is actually a macOS security feature. Trying to store passwords in scripts will bypass your machine's security and lend you vulnerable to attacks. So while it would sometimes be nice to not have to type in your password, this is one area where we don't recommend automating it.

          Hi there,

I appreciate the advice, but I’m very careful to have my system password different to all others, including the encryption passwords on my project drives. My studio computer is not connected to any of my personal apps either, no email or messages or any sensitive accounts.

I need this script to be able to automate the install process whenever I update many plugins/apps all at once. It has saved me untold amounts of time over the years and I haven’t had an issue. Keyboard Maestro again seems capable and I would love to retain this functionality.

So please, if it’s ok with you, let me know what I can do to get around this and enter text into a password field with a script.

          1. I don't think SoundFlow supports this scenario - for the reasons I already mentioned. And even if it were possible, and you may have found a way in your specific case to navigate around the severe security implications it has, we would so strongly discourage using SoundFlow in that way, that we'd likely delete any public sharing on our forum of how to work around security in that way, because of the likelihood of it being misused.
