Transfer Deck (Streamdeck) to a Surface (iPad)
Is there an easy/painless way to transfer a already made deck to a surface?
The surface builder hurts my brain.
Surely there is an easy way?
Chad Wahlbrink @Chad2023-09-29 01:39:03.015ZHi @Jason_King.
Decks and Surfaces are not interchangeable formats at the moment. However, that's an interesting idea and could be worth adding to the Ideas section of the forum.
What specific features are you trying to add to your deck by converting it to a surface?
If it's a matter of using more buttons, or just ensuring the deck is available on the iPad, I'd suggest trying designing a deck with a "Custom Size" (configurable up to 30 x 30 or 900 buttons) and then ensure that "Show on Mobile App Home Screen" is checked.
Hi Chad, I'm interested in this process as well.
For my use case, I'd like to build an iPad surface with dynamic zones. The bottom zone would remain an app switcher (similar to the dock on mac OS) and the top zone would switch between different decks based on app triggers.
Is this possible?

The way to do this would be to build individual deck for each deck have the app switcher icons on the bottom.
Thanks, Sam! I was hoping there would be a more update friendly route... if I wanted to edit the app switcher zone down the line, I'd have to manually make that change on every deck version one button at a time, right?

not if you are pointing to the same macro/script on each deck cause you can just change the script and it will update on all your decks.
True! Is there a more streamlined way to reorder, add, or remove macros from multiple decks without visiting each instance and clicking and dragging one by one?

So from what I'm thinking you could just change the scripts to correlate with each app and it would only take 5 mins

Chad Wahlbrink @Chad2024-05-07 15:44:48.703ZHey @pepsin! Thanks for the questions and ideas.
Currently, the deck designer has no "decks within decks" option in the deck designer. Though, it's a great idea. Feel free to throw that idea in the Ideas section of the forum so it can be considered more in the future.
Options that currently exist would include manually updating the decks individually, as @Sam_Ada has pointed out. Alternatively, you could utilize the Application Switcher commands from the Basics Package > Apps & UI, to create presets that could be updated across multiple decks.
I've outlined this second option in this video:- SSam Ada @Sam_Ada
this is exactly what I was talking in the video but I didn't know the app switcher macro auto populated icons! I've been doing that manually!

I'm not sure if it will help but maybe a feature like this could help? Combine buttons in the deck grid format
I requested it a few days ago maybe give it a like if we get enough I feel like the team would work on implementing
