Soundflow integration

I am new to Soundflow and see that it takes over my stream deck. Surely I can’t be alone in that I use my stream deck for many other things than just pro tools. Therefore my question is simply am I able to use the soundflow app to make my stream deck do all the things that I am doing in all of my non music apps. When I google this it just talks about pro tools. I would very much like to use soundflow but only if I can do all of the other things I do without having to quit pro tools / soundflow. I’m happy to start again in soundflow, but I can’t find anyone saying it’s possible.

    1. Hi Chris,

Yes, you can use them together, but if you do, there'll be a number of disadvantages as when SF doesn't have full control, there's a lot of things SF does for you that you'd have to set up manually.

      You can see more here:

      And in this article:

      https://soundflow.org/docs/how-to/stream-deck/setting-up#using-sound-flow-with-stream-decks

If you still want to set it up with the Stream Deck app, go to this link and scroll down to the old guide:

Note that SoundFlow can be used to control any macOS app, not just Pro Tools. The recommended approach, where possible, is to migrate all your Stream Deck keys to SF as that is most likely to give you the full SF experience (but there's more on that in the links I shared)

I think that you anticipated my question without fully reading it!

What I want to know is can I use SF to set up stream deck for use with non music apps?

Every time I ask this question on google, I get loads of stuff about Pro Tools.

I have to do much more in my life than music and Pro Tools sadly!

If it is not possibly or clumsy to use SF rather than the SD app for other apps, then just please say.

I'm not meaning to be awkward or anything - I just need a simple answer.

          Many thanks

            Hi @Chris_King,

            Short Answer

What I want to know is can I use SF to set up stream deck for use with non music apps?

The short answer to your question is yes.

            Long Answer
As Christian said, you can use SoundFlow to control any app in macOS.

This can be done by creating your own macros and decks (doing things like clicking menu items, mouse-clicking UI elements, simulating keystrokes, and more) OR by installing pre-made packages of commands from the Store. There are free packages on the store for apps like Zoom, Finder, Google Chrome, Spotify, Microsoft Teams, and more.

If there is a specific workflow you need help creating on SoundFlow, always feel free to ask for help here on the "How To" section of the forum.

Still, if there are actions you are not finding via SoundFlow's direct Stream Deck integration, then you have the option to use our old implementation, which allows you to use SoundFlow from within the Stream Deck app. The instructions for using the old implementation are here:
How to set up SoundFlow + Stream Deck

The reason we suggest our "direct integration" is that we believe most users will get the most benefit from working directly with SoundFlow. See our reasoning for that here:
