Any examples of a surface using the waveform widget?

Is there any documentation or tutorial or example code hiding around anywhere that shows how to use that waveform widget in the surface editor (5.4.8)? If I try to use it I get an ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND message where the widget is supposed to be. I assume that has something to do with that File Path dropdown box in the editor?

I have been conscripted by my sound editor partner to help her write some automation tools and I'm trying to get a sense of what's in the repertoire.

    Thanks in advance,

    1. Hi Dorian,

I think the waveform widget is a semi temporary placeholder I added as part of prototyping a specific app in the past. It most likely is only available for SoundFlow Developers who've gone through our Developer Program.

Thanks Christian; hey I got the understanding from traipsing around the forum that the widgets are not SVG+JS under the hood. Curious, what are they then? And what is the future prospect looking like for eventually doing custom surface widgets?

          1. Generally, the goal of our surface components is to have cross-platform support across all device types (ie. Mac, iOS, Android), which is somewhat of a limit currently to building entirely custom surface components in SoundFlow javascript code at the moment.
SoundFlow Developers (users having gone through our Developer Program) have access to creating custom surfaces with dynamic logic. If you're interested in joining the Developer Program, please reach out on support@soundflow.org

Thanks Christian; my current motivation is just to help my girlfriend with some process automation. I'm coming at this from a software development angle; I don't know anything about sound editing besides what she tells me. She had specific desiderata for what she wanted to be able to control in Pro Tools with her iPad, and I'm just trying to see what I can do for her. Given that, what does joining the developer program entail?

If you're interested in more info on the Developer Program please reach out via the email address I shared. The program is for developers interested in developing apps on our platform intended for sale through the SoundFlow Store.

Edit: As such, it's probably not a good fit for your use case, based on what you've mentioned so far.
