Pro Tools - Quantize Workflow Speed Up
I don't like the automated things like beat detective for drums, or elastic audio, so I'm doing all my edits manually and I'm dreaming of a script like this:
Steam Deck - Button A
- Set up a global tab to transient threshold
Steam Deck - Button B
- Tab to Transients in a selected group of audio tracks / for sure I can use TAB on Keyboard
Steam Deck - Button C
- Cut all audio tracks on playhead position
- Jump with playhead to the nearest absolute grid marker, according to the actual global grid resolution
- doing something like crtl + click on the clip group that should be moved / quantized to the actual playhead position
- trimming the right border of the clip group left to the playhead (which is already in time) and trim the border to snap to the playhead postion
- selecting all clips on audio tracks and doing a crossfade with 10ms pre splice / no fade in / no fade out
This workflow will maybe cause some trouble when the drummer plays early, so I've to adjust the crossfade position manually in some cases. But I can decide on my own, which parts should be moved, and which should stay untouched. And I'm independent from any static grid modes, and can swap them easily. Would replace the whole beat detective thing for me.
In an update we can think about time-stretching a small part of the left clips ending, until the playhead position, using timecompression and expansion tool, then cutting it only to fill the needed gap, and doing the pre-splice crossfades on everything.
We also can use this script for guitar and bass, if we also record DI signals.
Maybe there's an easier solution, than the one I've described above?
Thanks for a solution!
