Streamdeck application repeatedly gives message to install soundflow profile
Streamdeck application repeatedly gives message to install soundflow profile
System Information
SoundFlow 5.5.4
OS: darwin 22.6.0
ProductName: macOS
ProductVersion: 13.6
BuildVersion: 22G120
Steps to Reproduce
I have a Streamdeck XL and a Streamdeck. the smaller streamdeck was consistently loading the wrong profile when using Pro Tools... even though this wrong profil had no app set and also was not set to default profile. If i delete the "Soundflow Fullscreen" profile from the streamdeck app, then the Streamdeck no longer loads the incorrect profile but I get constantly and repeatedly nagged with this pop up message to Install the soundflow profile. But i don't need it! FYI, i am using the stream deck app because I want to mix soundflow commands with other things, including the free MOM controller for my MTRX Studio, and a MIDI message streamdeck plugin. HOw can I get rid of this pop up message? Thank you-
Expected Result
pop up message should be gone for good as soon as I hit cancel.
Actual Result
it pops up repeatedly, dozens of times.
Workaround
no workaround I can find

Hi Judson,
Yea this is definitely one of the many, many bugs we were seeing back in the days before we built our own Stream Deck integration.
I don't know why the smaller Stream Deck would keep loading the wrong profile - that stuff happens inside the Stream Deck app, so I don't think there's much SoundFlow can do about that.

Interestingly it's not even that it's loading the "incorrect" profile, it's loading the "Soundflow Fullscreen" profile but showing a (partial) stream deck -XL- profile that I use on the other stream deck! so yes it is very buggy indeed. FWIW all has been working great, until I installed the Soundflow plugin though. And to be clear, I can't mix sound flow commands with other stream deck commands with your stream deck software right?

Yea it's super buggy. We tried to work with the Elgato team back then, but they kept introducing new bugs so we had to give up on supporting that way of working, as we would've spent all of our time keeping up with helping users set it up, and it might only keep working until Elgato puts out a new version of their app.
You can still use the SF plugin to individually put SF commands on your Stream Deck profiles, but that's also a much less good experience than having SF entirely control the units, as you essentially have to recreate every SF deck inside the Stream Deck app.

sorry scratch that - I mean it tries to load the deck that I built for my iPad which is a 6x8 grid on the small streamdeck. And it thinks it's the "Soundflow Fullscreen" profile.... I think I get it now, soundflow wants to put that custom deck on my small stream deck. Can I stop that from happening?
- JJudson Crane @Judson_Crane
@chrscheuer - is there a way to stop Soundflow from trying to populate the large iPad deck I made in Soundlfow on to my small streamdeck though? again, wasn't having any issues until I installed the soundflow streamdeck plugin. Thank you!

If it's happening from within SF, it would indicate there's a trigger somewhere on a deck. Try to filter your decks on which ones have triggers assigned to see if you can locate it.
- JJudson Crane @Judson_Crane
I've only created 1 deck and it doesn't have a trigger. I've attached a screen shot. This is the one it is forcing on to my Streamdeck since installing the soundflow plugin. (I only use it on an iPad).
any ideas? Thank you!

Hi,
No that doesn't really make any sense to me.- JJudson Crane @Judson_Crane
yeah whacky right? Here's a picture of my streamdeck loading that deck. And what the streamdeck menu looks like. Next I'm going to try just copying the commands over from the "PT Extra Commands" profile to the Soundflow Fullscreen profile, see if that does it??
Christian Scheuer @chrscheuer2024-01-30 03:33:15.445Z
Yea. The only thing I can think of is to remove the SoundFlow Full Screen profiles, delete the SF plugin and try installing it again.
But yea, unfortunately, beyond that, since these are most likely bugs within the Stream Deck app not properly assigning the profiles to the right devices, I don't believe we can help much more with this.
We do have a supported solution, as you're aware, but as you know the reason we developed that was that we can't spend all of our time helping users with the bugs in the Stream Deck app.- JJudson Crane @Judson_Crane
understood. Interesting though that it only started getting funky when I installed the SF plugin. Anyway it seems that copying my commands from that "PT Extra Commands" profile to the "Soundflow Full Screen" profile has stopped it from forcing the iPad deck on to the streamdeck. So that's good.
PS. looking forward to the Logic Package!! I hope quantize and transform preset commands are in there... :)
