    5.7.0 RC still causing iPad blank/black window

    System Information

    SoundFlow 5.7.0

    OS: darwin 23.4.0

    ProductName: macOS
    ProductVersion: 14.4

    Steps to Reproduce

    1. I installed the latest 5.7.0 RC and rebooted the Mac Studio
    2. I deleted SoundFlow on both iPad Pros and reinstalled SF.
    3. I launched SoundFlow on both app's, and the decks appeared.
    4. I closed the SoundFlow app's on both iPads
    5. I relaunched SoundFlow on both iPads
    6. Both iPads are blank/black

    Expected Result

    I would expect to see the decks.

    Actual Result

    Instead I'm seeing blank/black windows.

      Thanks for reporting this. We'll take a look at your logs.

      If you find any patterns to this, it would be very helpful. I can see that you say the decks first showed up fine on the iPads, and then, after closing the app and relaunching it on the iPads, they now don't show anything.

      Can you be more specific as to the black screen and when it happens? It might be helpful if you could create a video with your phone showing off what's going on. For example, when exactly does the screen turn black, is it after launching the app, or after pressing something in the app, etc.

      When you say there's no workaround, does that mean that you can't in any way bring them back to work by restarting the app or by trying again?

      Have you set up static DHCP leases on your network?

          Lol, before I read your response, I recorded a short video.

          Maybe using the word deck isn't the best way to describe what I'm seeing.

          I have 5 decks as shown in the video. My "main" deck with all my macros, etc... is the bottom deck (Pro Tools Deck). When I click on it, I get a black window.

          The only way to get my deck (Pro Tools Deck) to work is by clicking on the Pro Tools Deck icon > black window > SF button > back to Pro Tools Deck, etc... until all the buttons of my deck appears.

          I did create a static DHCP lease a few days ago. The IP addresses never change.

          Let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to try. Thanks

          PS I'm trying to upload a MOV file, but it won't let me.

                  I just attempted reproducing this on my end, using your account, and it works fine here every time.

                  Can I get you to do the following:

                  • Uninstall the SoundFlow app on your phone/iPad
                  • When you install it again from the App Store, check which version it shows - it should show version 5.3.0
                  • Once you reconnect, make sure to say Accept/Yes to it connecting to local computers on the network.

                  Another interesting aspect is that I did notice the deck was slower to load if I had previously run the MOMdeck. Do you have the MOMdeck running on a separate Stream Deck or somewhere else? Perhaps it'd be worth it to check if things generally work more stable if you don't use MOMdeck at all (as in, never started it at any point in time after SF was started).

                  1. I'm locating some errors now in your log file that may be relevant. I'll make a preview build to test with to see if we can fix it on our end.

                    1. Update - I got a similar bug reproing here on my end. Assuming it's the same underlying bug then I think I know how to fix it.

                            Hi Christian, I'll be in the studio within' the hour. I'll reinstall SoundFlow 5.7.1 preview 2 on the Mac and make sure I'm running 5.3.0 on the iPad.

                            Regarding the MOMdeck, I purchased Andrews S. app so that I can create a headphone level when I connect the phones to a MTRX Studio.

                            Now that you're seeing a similar bug report on your end, should I remove the MOMdeck anyway?

                                Hey Christian, you're amazing! Everything's running flawlessly. I've set up 5.7.1 P2 on the Mac, reinstalled SoundFlow on the iPads with version 5.3.0, and hit 'Allow'.

                                No hitches so far. I'll stay vigilant, but for now, all seems good. Thanks a bunch for sorting out the bugs. I'm thrilled to be using my favorite app again! :)

                          Christian, what helps "sometimes" is rebooting the iPad. That will bring up my deck.

                                  Hi guys,

                                  I'm using SoundFlow 5.7.0 with Amazon's Fire HD 10 and now and again, I see a black screen as well. Usually, going back to the main screen and clicking on the SoundFlow app fixes this issue but I never had this before 5.7.0. Sometimes I have to do this several times to see the icons. Thanks.
