Multiple Rigs with Different "sets" of Stream Decks
I have a StreamDeck XL and a Stream Deck + both configured at one studio. I've started work at another studio and I'll be bouncing back and forth between them all summer. In an effort to avoid lugging my stream decks with me, one of the studios has supplied stream decks for me. This seems to be causing some issues for macros/commands I've used to "Open Deck"
For example, I have "Cue Decks" for cueing adr. Each character in the show gets his/her own button, so I usually fill 3-4 (sometimes more) pages on my SD+ and I built a bunch of knob commands (from the Basics Package) that trigger the "Open Deck" command which requires assigning it to a specific deck. When I assign it to "first available," it's unpredictable which deck opens it.
First question: Can I use the "Open Deck" command to assign it to a specific SIZE deck instead of just "first available?" It will take me thirty minutes each time I go from studio to studio just to reassign the knob commands to each page if that's the only solution.
Second question: Is there a better way to make use of the knobs to achieve what I'm after?
I've seen a few posts Christian has shared involving changing the script. If that's truly the only answer for the example above, how would I even go about doing that?

Thanks for contacting SoundFlow support.
Please note, that the best way to get help with a script, macro or other content installed from the Store or content that you've made yourself, is to select the script/macro, then click the red Need help button, and then click "Get help with this script or macro".
By using this method, we will get access to more information and so should be able to help you quicker.
You can read more about how this works here: bit.ly/sfscripthelpIf you're seeing an error that isn't related to scripts or macros, and you think this is a bug in SoundFlow, please file a Help/Issue bug report.
You can see how to do this by going to bit.ly/sfhelpissue - In reply toBrian_Armstrong⬆:Christian Scheuer @chrscheuer2024-05-24 17:21:07.042Z
Hi Brian,
For this kind of configuration, you'll need to use a script to open the decks - but the script is super short and relatively simple to make. My posts you already found should show how to make this - in case you need more help, feel free to add links to those posts here and we can follow up.

I just watched this and although it kind of makes sense, I'm not sure how to incorporate it into my situation here. Here's a screenshot of the Basics Package Knob Commands template I'm using where I don't have a choice to alter any code.Yes, I've named it "L'il Twisty" haha. Would it be beneficial to add the option you're referring to as part of the "Open Deck" template?
I'm sure it's not an easy addition, but it seems it would also be beneficial to have that option be clearer/accessible when assigning a deck. The way you've described things in that video, and the way it's set up to operate are kind of at odds. You've given the option to select a device name that refers to a device ID rather than giving the option to select a device ID OR a device name.

Absolutely, we should do this (match by device name instead of by device ID), as soon as we have some time.
Until we have that feature, you would need to create a script that does this for you. Then, instead of adding the Open Deck action in the Turn Right Action handler, you would add the script.

cc @Chad_Wahlbrink who should be able to assist with this.

In case you're interested. SoundFlow 5.8 now offers two options for setting up devices for displaying decks:
- By serial number (the traditional method).
- By name. This option is ideal for those who move between studios and need their setup to work across different physical devices. Using "by name" would be helpful for those who often go from studio to studio and would like their setup to translate into being used on different physical devices. You could then set those devices up (through the SF icon -> Set up Stream Deck) with matching names, and your decks would then show up correctly, even if the physical devices are different from your home setup, for example.

That's great!!
I will update as soon as I'm allowed to. Soundflow is telling me I'm up to date at 5.7.8
Thanks @Kitch.
