How to Spot to DAW from Soundly
I use Soundly at the same time as Soundminer because I like the way a lot of my library is organized in Soundly. I feel that Soundminer falls short in this area. Nonetheless...I've tried creating a simple macro that activates Soundly (after it's already been open) and then a 2nd action that presses the letter S. I can't get this to work. I've tried using 'Wait' actions after activating Soundly and before pressing the S key but still no go.
When I look at the Spot from SM macro, it seems to be more involved than the macro that I'm trying to create., Is it possible to create a 'Spot to DAW' from Soundly macro?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ron!
This is great feedback. We're talking to Soundly about making a better integration with them, but they've been busy so far. I imagine we'll start to develop the integration over the coming months.
Can you post me a screenshot of the macro you were using?

I was in touch with Peder at Soundly last week and unfortunately they’re on an extended break at the moment. I have a great relationship with them and I’d rather be using Soundly more than SM like I used to but there are some issues that I need them to fix before I can do that again.
I’ll send you a screenshot a little later when I’m in front of my system.

I think I figured out why I'm having this issue with not being able to spot from Soundly using a SF macro. It seems to be because I have both SM and Soundly open at the same time. When I only have Soundly open without SM, the macro that I created works fine. Still...I'm sure that you probably have a better way for me to do this when both programs are open. Here's an image of the SF macro that I created to spot from Soundly. Is there a way to have it ignore SM when it's open?

Christian...I just downloaded and installed the latest SF build and now my spot to Soundly macro works. Even with SM open at the same time, but PT needs to be the frontmost app. Still....At least that works.

'Spoke too soon. Still not working correctly, though it worked once.

Hi Ron.
I believe this only works intermittently because Soundly only registers single-key shortcuts when the focus is on specific elements in their app. So if the focus for some reason resides in a portion of the app that doesn't recognize the shortcut, you'll be out of luck.
This is a big part of the reason why I suggested to Soundly that we build a proper integration with them (which they so far have rejected). Your use case here is a good example of why keyboard shortcuts are a bad way to automate things (because they rely on keyboard focus).Ron Aston @Ron_Aston
Ahhh. I see now. No problem. I'd always want to create these various macros in the way you would want them created, as I learned with all of my cuing text macros. Now everything works great combined with moving all of my SD macros into the SF SD editor. Thanks again, Christian!

Yea I know :) Unfortunately the current version of Soundly doesn't make it easy to do things the "best" SoundFlow way. There are workarounds that would make your macro more stable right now - that would include mouse clicking in certain areas of the app window, to make sure the focus was in a right place - but the best way forward is definitely to gain proper API support.
Ron Aston @Ron_Aston
I'll wait 'till you get that access to that API support and are ready to share the resulting macros, etc. :-)
