Cubase "Scroll Within Clip" for Pro Tools

    Hey all!

I had a friend talk about a feature in Cubase where you can hold some modifiers and scroll the clip without moving its position. Would it be possible to make this work in Pro Tools using Soundflow (or potentially SDK Scripting if that'd be more useful)?

Unless there's a better way someone can think to do this, we would have the "Forward Slash" key toggle an "edit scroll" mode. Once in this mode, a user could use the Mouse Scroll to "slide within the clip" via a combination of trimming both the left and right sides of the clip simultaneously by a set number of samples and nudging the clip over an equal distance to compensate.

This would effectively slide the content within the clip around without adjusting the position of the clip, which I'm told can be of immense help when time aligning drums and guitars.

    Thanks in advance!

      Hey @Randy_Brown,

There is a built-in key command for this functionality in Pro Tools. Control (⌃) and + or - on the Numpad will nudge content inside a clip without moving the clip boundaries. This is a cool function! This exists in Logic as well.

You could set this to another key command if you'd like. There is no menu command for this (that I'm aware of), so if you wanted to use SoundFlow to map this to the scroll wheel, you'd have to use the "press keys" macro action to trigger whichever key command you use for this command in Pro Tools Keyboard Shortcuts manager. This could also be mapped to something like the generic knob commands with the Stream Deck +.
