Help required with mix prep macro in Logic
I have created a series of 'mix prep' macros to work inside my mix template in Logic Pro for routing and colour coding imported tracks. Please see attached screenshot for my 'Drums' macro as an example. I have adapted the macro for other instrument groups as well such as 'Guitars' and 'Vocals'.
I am having the following issues when applying the macro to multiple tracks simultaneously:
- Only the first track gets correct plugin output width from the Console 1 plugin (I want it to be mono->stereo)
- Only the first track gets colour coded
- Only the first track gets the correct output (I'm currently using the 'Select Track Output search feature for this but it would be great if there is a way that it automatically assigns the output for every selected track without me having to enter the name)
Additional questions:
-
I use the 'hide' feature in Logic groups so I can just view the tracks I want. So each track is set to 2 groups - an 'all' group and an instrument group (eg. drums or guitars). At the moment I am manually assigning these groups after applying the macro, but it would be great if these groups could be automatically assigned as part of the macro. Is this possible?
-
Is it possible to automatically assign the tracks to a specified VCA as part of the macro?
-
Is it possible to automatically normalize all tracks to -12db Peak as part of the macro?
-
Is it possible to automatically assign the Track Outputs to a specified bus without using the 'search output' function? The buses that the tracks are outputting to are always the same in my template.
I'm a new Soundflow user, so any easy to understand help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi there. Regarding track output, SF has a function specifically for that called 'Select Track Output'. You can see details of it here: Logic: Change track output

Thanks Matthew. I managed to get the 'Change track output' feature working. It took a bit of trial and error but I found the "Channel path name" option to work best for me.

All great questions!
As there is a lot to answer here, I shall take a look at this later in the week. And maybe we can jump on a Zoom call sometime soon where I can walk you through SoundFlow's logic package. :-)
As @Matthew_Brabender mentioned, there is a "Select Track Output" macro in SoundFlow's Logic Pro package, it's located in the "Track Functions" folder. If you don't see it there you may need to update the package from the Package main page or the SoundFlow store.

Hi Kitch. Thanks for your reply. I managed to get the "Select track output" feature working correctly using the "Channel path name" option. I still haven't managed to figure out some of the other things I'm trying to do so I think a walkthrough on Zoom would be really beneficial as I'm still trying to get my head round how this all works! Please let me know how we can arrange this. Thanks for your help :)

Awesome. Please send an email to support@soundflow.org, and we can set up a time.
Thanks in advance. :-)
