How to import files from Excel into Notes

Whenever I try to import a csv or excel file I get a message that says:
    Notes: Actions failed
    The process cannot access '/Users/macstudio

Is this because I have to give notes or soundflow access to the Mac Studio? If so, how do I do this?

    1. Hi Peter,

Could you send us a script help or help/issue report for this so we can see your log files and the full error message? Without the full context, it's hard to know where this goes wrong.
Note: If you're trying to import an Excel file that's open in Excel, Excel might be blocking your access to the file.

Hi Christian, before I add an issue etc. I just need to know if I'm importing the timecodes properly. Basically I have a list of timecode running down a column from top to bottom in excel. I save it and import via Import from Pix/CSV etc.

When I try to import it shows an error. Tell me, am I supposed to put together a template with titles or something, or is the timecode enough?

I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing anything before I put in an issue for help etc.

          1. When I try to import it shows an error.

It's easier to help if we have the log files so we can see exactly what the error is :)

Hi Christian, I have since worked this out. It was the format and titles that were wrong.

The titles for a .xls file need to be Location, User, Comments and Category.

Under Location I added the timecodes, under User I added (the author's) full name. And under comments I added the timecode again so it shows the timecode as the marker name. With the category as Dialogue. Oh, and make sure Excel is closed when you import any files.

Once I did the above and imported via PIX/CSV etc. All the timecodes came in with the necessary details that I could then export into Pro Tools as markers.
