Transport Section in Ableton Live

One of the main use cases I see for this is helping me while I’m self-engineering recording guitar, etc. So, I’ll spend a lot of time in the Transport area.

When I click Previous Locator and Next Locator, I’m guessing it’s designed to jump to some kind of markers you set up in ableton. I don’t do that. I just want to hit the left and right arrow on the keyboard to jump to the next marker on the grid. (I’m always in arrangement view.)

How can I replace those buttons with that functionality?

I’d really like the transport page to have up and down arrows to navigate tracks, the arm button, and left and right arrows to move around the grid, so I can just keep recording takes over and over really easy and setup my lead-in time.

If possible, let me know how I can achieve all of that.

        Hi, @Spencer_Wleklinski!

        Thanks again for the question.

This is possible by utilizing the "Make Editable Copy" button in the deck editor:

This will allow you to make an editable copy of the main deck. Then, you can also make editable copies of any of the subdecks, like "Transport," and replace the subdecks on your custom main deck.

This video will make that process clearer, I hope. I walk through editing the transport deck for your own workflow:

        1. Yes, that helped a lot. Thank you for the video. I was kind of aware that some of what I was asking for was just a remote keyboard app, but the fact that Soundflow has a template with such a robust Ableton integration, this helps me keep my current workflow while I learn new ways to use Soundflow deeper. I was getting confused with what order to make items editable, how to keep my editable items organized, the difference between terminology, and how to program keyboard actions. So, this video helped me understand all of that, and answered my specific question too. Thanks! I'll post any new thoughts or items I run into as I use the Ableton template.
