Stream Deck is missing labels on stage system
Hi!
I tried SF on the stage for the first time. Very exciting and productive. All shortcuts programmed at home worked as expected except for two things:
-
Some of the labels that I designed and pasted on the deck keys are missing. I only see the SF logo on each of the SD keys. But not all of them, just some. They all show up correclty in the editor app, but not in the actual Stream Deck. Known issue?
-
I can't seem to be able to setup SD to act as HUI in PT. I did it at home very easily. Can't do it on the stage. Any clue?
Thanks!

Disregard 2.
I had to select Sound Flow MIDI in the MIDI Devices menu. It was greyed out before, so I couldn'd do it. I must have done something because it's available now. Selected SF MIDI, setup HUI and boom. All good.Christian Scheuer @chrscheuer2020-03-27 09:00:52.545Z
Yes exactly, you need to enable it in MIDI Inputs before it can be selected in Peripherals - quite counter intuitive if you ask me, but that's the way. Good to hear you got it working.

Hi Diego.
Can you share a photo of how this looks on the Stream Deck?
I know that Stream Decks have issues with certain KVM systems and USB extenders, which makes them work less reliably. That could be the issue. To test that, I would connect the Stream Deck directly to the stage computer (just to rule it out) - I realize this means a bit walking back and forth, but it's a fairly quick test.If that's not the issue, then it's likely the setup of the Stream Deck app. Stream Deck is always finicky to set up, so any wrong configuration may cause issues. I'm assuming that you're using Decks that you designed inside SoundFlow. The important part is to follow this guide to the point with zero deviation:
https://soundflow.org/docs/how-to/stream-deck/setting-upSpecifically make sure in the Stream Deck app:
- Make sure after you've installed the SoundFlow plugin, that you have exactly one SoundFlow Full Screen profile per deck.
- Don't assign any apps to the SoundFlow Full Screen profiles.
- Don't rename the SoundFlow Full Screen profiles.
- Don't set a "Default" profile
- To improve reliability - only have the profile that was originally installed (the empty Stream Deck profile) and the SoundFlow Full Screen profile - on each device. Don't have any custom profiles (design these in SoundFlow).

If you find out that it's an issue with the KVM system, you may be able to work around it by getting a direct connection - if you find out that it's a USB extender issue, you may be able to switch to a different extender, switch the port it's connecting to on the Mac, or introduce a powered hub on the stage side to make sure it gets enough power. All this troubleshooting can take some time, but depending on the actual KVM and extending systems we've seen people have both positive and negative results.
Specifically I know that the Adder KVM system apparently has some issues with Stream Deck and vice versa.- In reply tochrscheuer⬆:

I'll check this out next time I'm on stage.

Hey Christian
I haven-t been to the stage yet but I booted my home rig with the stage boot drive.
It's currently on 10.2.6. I have SF 3.5.2 and SD 4.5.1 (4.6 is not supported in Sierra).I see the same problem here:
I should seeAnd I see
Diego Gat @Diego_Gat
Compared to these pictures above where I should see a full transport key set (black and white on the bottom row) now on the new software versions I only see Play and Fast Forward (right most two keys) and SoundFlow logos for all the rest. Buttons perform their intended task (HUI transport signals in this case) but don't show the picture.
Just wonder if this is helpful in any way.

Another example, more interesting this time:
I should see:
and I see:
Only some of the pictures show up.
And this is at home with the same hardware that runs an otherwise fully working SF/SD system.
Difference is the OS version (at home I'm on High Sierra) and the Stream Deck version.Any clue?
Thanks

Did you design these decks in SoundFlow's Deck designer or in the Stream Deck deck designer?
Christian Scheuer @chrscheuer2020-03-30 07:38:05.729Z
If you did design them in SoundFlow, then I think it might be down to a bug in the Stream Deck app that makes the SoundFlow Full Screen profiles act in a wrong way.
We have already logged 8-10 major flaws in the way the Stream Deck app deals with profiles (so trust me this is not the first time I see one, but the first time I see this particular bug) but Elgato as of yet haven't addressed the bugs, however they promised me a few weeks ago that they would take a look soon.
I would recommend to re-install the SoundFlow plugin (uninstall it, delete any Full Screen profiles, then reinstall the plugin and choose install profiles). Often this is enough to fix bugs in the Stream Deck app.
Please note it's important to follow this guide to the point in the installation:
https://soundflow.org/docs/how-to/stream-deck/setting-upGeneral rules - things to do/don't do in the Stream Deck app when using SoundFlow for designing decks:
- Make sure when you click Install Profiles that it creates exactly one SoundFlow Full Screen profile for each connected device.
- Don't set a "Default" profile
- Don't change the SoundFlow Full Screen profiles
- Don't rename the SoundFlow Full Screen profiles
- Don't assign an app to the SoundFlow Full Screen profiles
Diego Gat @Diego_Gat
Now I'm doing some more precise testing.
I confirm that:
I followed the general rules (only one SoundFlow profile is intalled per deck and no renaming, etc)
Sound Deck is connected directly to the MacPro's USB (no extender, cables or hubs)
Stream deck works otherwise (outside of sounflow). Al screens and buttons physically work and communicate.
All software versions are up to date or most stable version (MacOS 10.13.6, Soundflow 3.6.1, Streamdeck 4.6.2, Streamdeck firmware 1.0.191203)
Same software versions that I'm running in my laptop whithout issue. This is what I'm getting:
Only some of the screens showup on the streamdeck, but not all of them. The ones that don't show the SoundFlow logo (gray circle with the double wave) but only on the buttons that have something assigned. The SoundFlow logo is replacing where there should be another image but buttons remain clear when nothing is assigned to them.
You can see the pictures in previous posts por reference. This same thing was happeing on older versions of Streamdeck, Soundflow and while still on on Sierra. I waited to report back until I could upgrade to High Sierra and the latest versions of all software.
Any clue?Thanks

Hi Diego.
Thanks for all this testing. I would like to get you on our new 3.7 beta as soon as it's ready so we can test if SoundFlow's own integration that bypasses the Stream Deck app (which has soo many bugs unfortunately) has better luck. I think that will be worth it to wait for, as it's likely going to be our recommended route going forward, because we'll have more full control over the experience.

If you're on the stage system now, can I get you to fill out this form? It will collect the log information we need:

Everthing is done in SoundFlow. Stream Deck is totally default +SoundFlow profiles
