How to use Roli Lightpad to control the Surround Panner in Pro Tools?

I’m really interested in finding out if it’s possible to create a surround panner script for something like the Roli Lightpad or a similar product.
    Any thoughts?

    1. Hi Brian.

I did some digging on this, and while we can definitely read input from the Roli Lightpad and use it for all sorts of cool things, I don't think we can control all the surround panner parameters in Pro Tools.

The parameters for the surround panner are available for us to read, but to write them we could only do this fairly slowly and unprecisely with the current access we have to PT.

We could control regular L/R pan more accurately via our HUI integration, but I'm not sure if HUI supports surround pan. If it does, then that could provide us with a solution. Do you happen to know if the HUI protocol supports surround pan? I can't find it in the docs that we have available.

          Hi Christian!

I'm really interested on make ROLI LIGHTPAD works as a panning tool on ProTools.

This device can be set in a XYZ axis mode, as you can see on the image below:

So I think the following would be a way to make it works.

Let say that you make SoundFlow apply MIDI instructions from the ROLI LIGHTPAD just on the selected track, and the Pro Tools Panner window (Output Window) is open.

The goal would be to assign X axis to "front position" parameter and Y axis to "front/rear position" parameter.

Do you think it would be posible?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Curious as well if the Roli Lightblock can be used as a surround panner controller via SF.
