Click & Hold Hot Keys

Apologies for the newbie question, but....

Is there a way to rig Soundflow/Stream Deck hot kets to press keys and hold them when I click and drag a region in Pro Tools (or any other multi-step action)?

I would need the hot keys to push the keys (like Ctrl & Alt) and hold them until I do something else (like click and drag a clip) and not just activate those buttons instantly.

I only have the use of one hand, and while I can program some functions into buttons on my mouse, it would be great to create folders (general editing, cueing, mixing, DX editing, foley editing, etc.) and have multi-key combinations in each. Right now I'm using small weights to hold some hard to reach keys down while I hit a mouse button and simultaneously do something with the scroll wheel. It works, but....

So I'm wondering if there's a hot key that will execute key command only in combination with my next action (like clicking and dragging).

    Thanks.

    1. Hi Glenn.

Yes I think you can do something like that in SoundFlow. But before we get to that - have you considered using the built-in macOS feature Sticky Keys? They allow you to turn modifier keys into latches instead of needing to hold them down.

Thank you. That may well be all I need. but I'm curious as to how to click and "hold" keys in sound flow.
          Cheers,
          Glenn

          1. You may be able to use this code as a starting point:

                Thanks.

Actually the Sticky Keys accessibility function (in Mac OS) seems to mostly do what I need.

I'll keep this in mind in case I need to do more complex key combinations.

                Cheers,
                Glenn K
