Hello friends! My new Stream Deck XL is freezing a few minutes after start up, requiring me to restart SF. Anyone ever see this? Should I install the El Gato software and see what my firmware is and possibly update? I have a different deck for the finder, a few for pro tools, one for safari, mail... They all stop working and freeze a few minutes after a restart. It is connected to my MP 2019 rack via a new powered USB hub. Very solid USB.

Hi John.
Thanks for reporting this. As a means to troubleshoot it, can you test if there's any difference in behavior if you connect your Stream Deck directly to your computer?
They are known to be very, very picky about hubs, so it would be great to rule that out as a potential issue source.- Comment deleted

Still no luck! I switched the SD to the first port on my powered hub and maybe it's working? Also the USBc cable attached to the SD might have gotten slightly pulled. (USBc is a terrible connector.) Lastly, I had forgotten I had but a USB switch in-between the SD and the hub, so I can turn it off at night... Ugh.

Hi John.
I think I read your comment that you deleted (no need to do that, it only makes it more difficult to understand the progress of your troubleshooting). Not sure I understand the feedback you just sent here. Can you be a bit more clear about what seems to be working and what doesn't?
If you are looking for input on which types of hubs may or may not work with Stream Deck, there's a thread in the Soundflow User Group on Facebook where people gave their input to this.John Costello @John_Costello
Hi Christian! So at the moment it is working and I did not lose communication with the SD last night, still working this morning. I saw the Anker recommended powered hub on the SD site. I have that one, so maybe it will work. I notice that editing in SF makes the SD freeze as well. Not sure if that is also related to extending SD? Thank you so much for helping me!

Ok. The first step of the troubleshooting process for any type of disruption of the connection would be to connect directly. So if editing in SoundFlow makes your Stream Deck freeze then you still have a connection issue. The most likely reason for that is still that the power distributed over the cable is too low for it to adequately run what it needs to run.
Note that this is not SoundFlow has anything to do with.. If you want to rule out SoundFlow as a source of error you could set it up with the Stream Deck software just as a way to rule out any issues there.
But, again the likelihood of it being a USB power distribution issue is much, much higher. We aren't aware of any limitations currently due to SoundFlow being the driver.John Costello @John_Costello
Yes, SD works fine directly attached to my MP 2019 each in my machine room, far away from where I actually work...

In case someone sees this in the future, here's what I did. I pulled another USBc active 50' cable through my conduit to my workstation in order to have an exclusive port available for Stream Deck on my MP. Problem solved.
Is Stream Deck ready for prime time? IMO, no, not until they add a power port on the back...
Thank you!
