Melodyne Helper not executing.
Hey Everyone.
First, Andrew thank you for making such an awesome script! I'm sure this took you a tremendous amount of time. I for some reason cannot get the command to execute all the way. I'm sure it's a user error. I keep seeing this message after Melodyne pops up:

I didn't change anything, I just assigned the 2 commands to my StreamDeck. I'm a total newb to all of this, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
So are you saying the script used to work and now it doesn't? That particular line of code is waiting for the Melodyne window to appear. I can change how long it will wait, but before I do I'd like to know if it has ever worked for you. My suspicion is that the plugin window is on a second screen or something like that that is keeping SoundFlow from know that it has successfully opened.
So, what I would try is manually instantiating and opening a Melodyne so you can set the plug in window position somewhere on the same monitor as the edit window, and preferably in the middle of the screen, not covering up any of the insert slots, menus etc.
Let me know!

One other question, what version of Melodyne are you running? Can you take a screen shot of the open plugin window?
(ok, that's two questions)

One other thing that could explain it is if you are running a trial of Melodyne, in which case the first instantiation will also bring up a dialog saying when the version will expire, which could keep the script from correctly seeing the window.

Hey Andrew. Thanks for the speedy reply!
To answer your 1st question: No, I haven't gotten the script to properly execute yet. I've just watched your videos, so I know how it should work. Looks amazing!
I am a double display user so I was positive this is what it was when I read your suggestion. I know SF is primarily written for the edit window and I also saw that in your installation notes. Per your suggestion, I had closed the mix window (2nd display) and noticed that the rewire plug was still opening on my 2nd display. So I made sure Melodyne would open in my edit window (1st Display) and the rewire plugin as well. Here's a screen recording of me attempting this script:

The first time, you can see the rewire plugin was on my 2nd display, then you see me put it on the edit window (1st display). Here's a screenshot of my Melodyne:
I did notice that Rewire says "Melodyne Singletrack" and not "Melodyne Editor" does that have anything to do with it?
I really appreciate your help, and all you've done for the audio community! I'm a huge fan... Thank you for taking the time to respond to this.
Cheers.

Just to be double sure, I completely unplugged my second display, ran the script, and the same errors occurred. I forgot to mention that!

Aha, I see the problem in the video. For some reason your version of Melodyne comes up in a window called "Untitled", not "Melodyne". I haven't tested this with the reWire/Editor setup. Does the name of the plugin Window in Pro Tools change when you name the project in Melodyne Editor or is it always called Untitled?
- In reply toBergatron_Music⬆:Bergatron Music @Bergatron_Music
If I manually plugin Melodyne there is no "Untitled" field at the top of my Melodyne editor window. It just says Melodyne Editor, but there's no name plate at the top. I don't see anywhere where I can rename the Melodyne window when I manually plug it in.
If I use the script, in the Melodyne window that pops up "Untitled", I can change the name. When I change it to "Melodyne" it still does the same thing.
Andrew Scheps @Andrew_Scheps
In your plugins list are there two Melodynes?
- In reply toBergatron_Music⬆:Bergatron Music @Bergatron_Music
Hey Andrew.
Here is a screen recording of selecting Melodyne in my plugins list the only two ways I know how:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IDkfmSVH5dZ6Mm4K7Dtnq9rF9AB0GiHW/view?usp=sharingIs there something I'm missing? THANKS for your help!
Andrew Scheps @Andrew_Scheps
Ok, the problem is that the script is opening the wrong version of Melodyne. It's finding the one in the Instrument folder and it should use the one in the Other folder. Let me see if I can control that...

Aha. It's opening Melodyne SIngletrack instead of the normal Melodyne. Do you ever use the Melodyne Singletrack? If not, try removing it from the plugins folder and see what happens.
Bergatron Music @Bergatron_Music
I noticed that in the Rewire window and I had never seen that before. I thought that's what it was, but I assumed that was part of the script. Cool. I'll try removing that from my plugins now.
- In reply toBergatron_Music⬆:Bergatron Music @Bergatron_Music
I'm not seeing (2) Melodyne Editors in my plug Ins folder... Is this what I should remove then?
- In reply toBergatron_Music⬆:Bergatron Music @Bergatron_Music
I found this uninstaller. I'll try running that. As I said earlier, I've never used the single track before.
Andrew Scheps @Andrew_Scheps
Hopefully that will do it...

So I've uninstalled singletrack and it got rid of my Melodyne Editor as well. Melodyne was no longer in my Pro Tools Plugins menus after running the uninstaller.
So I re-downloaded Melodyne from Celemony (the most current version of my license) and the installer itself will not let me uncheck "Melodyne Singletrack" but I can choose whether or not it installs Melodyne Editor AAX, VST, AU etc. I left everything checked and installed.
Now I'm at the same issue. In Pro Tools Melodyne Editor shows up in my "Other" menu and "Melodyne Singletrack" shows up in my "Instruments" menu. I'm not sure how to get rid of just the Single track? I've never even used Melodyne on an instrument track. Is that weird?
Andrew Scheps @Andrew_Scheps
It's odd but I should be able to fix it so it won't look in the Instrument folder. It won't be a super quick fix but I'll try to figure it out in the next couple of days. Thanks for the feedback!
They have too many different versions of Melodyne!
Bergatron Music @Bergatron_Music
I didn't even know about Single Track until I started using SoundFlow lol! I'm still not sure why I even have it??
I appreciate all the help! Thanks Andrew.

Hey Andrew.
I still haven't been able to get your awesome Melodyne script to work. I've finally revisted this since October 2020. I'm assuming it has to do with my Melodyne being in my "other" folder and not in the instruments folder? On my system Melodyne "singletrack" is greyed out with AAE error 20038 when trying to use your script. My Melodyne (that I use all the time) is just called "Melodyne" and it's in my "other" folder. It's current and up to date. I also have Pro Tools Ultimate, which I think comes with singletrack? Any work arounds to this? Thanks in advance.
-BrianAndrew Scheps @Andrew_Scheps
Can you try uninstalling Single Track? Just drag it out of the plugins folder
Bergatron Music @Bergatron_Music
Hey Andrew.
Looks like it's not even in my plugins folder. Melodyne.aaxplugin is the only version I see in my plugins folder.
Andrew Scheps @Andrew_Scheps
Considering it shows up in the plugin menu as an error I think it's pretty important to get rid of it. Once you do, if the script still doesn't work let me know and we'll dive further in!
Bergatron Music @Bergatron_Music
Sorry for the late reply! Will do. I'm still trying to locate where it is.

Apparently "Singletrack" is what Celemony is calling the Stand Alone Melodyne. This is news to me, as I thought it was just Melodyne Editor. I absolutely do not want to take up any more of your time than I already have, but here's a quick excerpt from the Melodyne manual:
So I guess Rewire wants it to go to Singletrack and not the editor?
