Toggle an insert on the Master Bus

I'm a brand new user, but I've searched for this function - please excuse me if I missed it!

I don't have a mono button on my interface, so I want to use Soundflow to activate an insert on my master bus that collapses my mix to mono. Is it possible to do this without having to manually select the bus first?

I've found some similar macros and I think I understand how this should work - here is my macro:

This is successful in opening the insert in the track, but the toggle bypass function is not working. I think this could be a separate issue, as the default Pro Tools package functions (option+1,2,3 etc) to toggle bypass on inserts are not working either. Why could this be?

        1. Hi Giles,

The standard actions to toggle the Insert Bypass use keyboard+mouse simulation together with UI automation - in other words, they require the insert button (and the track) to be visible on the screen.
That doesn't work well together with master busses, as you may have scrolled them off screen.

A better approach would be to keep your insert plug-in window open (by disabling its target button) and then use UI automation (the "Click UI Element" action) to click on the Bypass button in that window.

Thanks Christian, I can give that a try. But I'm still wondering why the Toggle Bypass Insert 1 (2, 3 etc) on selected Track, as included in the Pro Tools presets and illustrated below, isn't working. Is there anything I can do to get that to work?

              1. Hi Giles,

When it doesn't work, do you get an error?

Please see this link for how to best get help with SoundFlow in cases of an error in a script - by using this method you'll automatically send us your log files, and your answers to the prepared questions will help us help you more effectively.
The more info you can provide, for example through screenshots or screen recordings, the easier it will be to narrow down why it doesn't work as expected in your case.

Hi, I am struggling with the same issue. I have a little criticism for the level of help for us normal people. I hear Mr. Scheps is getting excellent help, but I have not seen this happening. Is this the normal way you leave people on their own? I have a coding background and have not have any issues getting by with new platforms. FEX running into these preconditions that there is no way to find out is a bit annoying.

                    1. Hi Timo,

I'm sorry to hear if you're not receiving the kind of help you'd want. The SoundFlow team is extremely small (just 2 people) so we do our best to help but we may not always get everywhere.
I'm not sure what you mean by leaving people on their own. In this thread we asked Giles for more information, which we didn't receive, which is why the thread ended. All replies were on the same date of the original post.

If you have an issue, it's usually better to use our new Need help feature (which I can see you already used in a separate thread, where you also received help but haven't yet replied to the most recent comments). Commenting on old topics is not usually the best way to get help as information may be out of date.
