ProTools Vertical Zoom Shortcut?

I'm trying to do an all track Vertical Zoom shortcut, similar to Horizontal Zoom Command + ]

Does anyone know the best way?

Bonus round - If anyone knows how to do this on a mouse, I'd like to replace Waveform Zoom with Horizontal Zoom with Option + scroll. Cheers!

    1. Hi Landon,

This is a built in command in SoundFlow actually :) Look under SoundFlow -> Pro Tools -> Zoom - it has Zoom In/Out All/Current Tracks.

      1. The default shortcuts (if you use those) are cmd+(option)+scroll down/up.

That's super helpful for now, thanks! What I'm actually looking for is the same mouse configuration as Logic Pro, but in Protools:

            Vertical Zoom In/Out: Option+Scroll Up/Down
            Horizontal Zoom In/Out: Option+Scroll Left/Right

Ideally, it would stay focused on selected track. Am I able to customize this in SF?

            1. Generally, yes, you can fully customize shortcuts in SoundFlow, including shortcuts that make use of the mouse scroll feature.

However, certain mice drivers, on scrolling horizontally (ie. a mouse wheel that can scroll in 2 dimensions), will potentially be more difficult to re-map through SoundFlow.

You can definitely map your own shortcuts to vertical zoom and/or horizontal zoom through SoundFlow and when used with regular vertical scrolling. I'm not 100% sure if SoundFlow correctly will catch horizontal scrolling events though.

I'd highly recommend watching this video for how to get started mapping keyboard shortcuts to SoundFlow commands. Note, that you can use the mouse scroll wheel as a keyboard shortcut in SoundFlow (treat it as if it were a keyboard key).

Thank you for that. I didn't realize the mouse would act like a key in the trigger menu. Sweet! You are correct though, it does not catch horizontal events, and I can't record it as a trigger. Do you think that's something that can be addressed in a SF update? Protools recognizes it as a waveform zoom and I'd love to override it.

                  1. I'll take a look to see if it can be added. What kind of mouse are you using?

Apple Magic Mouse 2 mainly, I occasionally use the Kensington Expert wired as well.

                        1. Thanks. I'll put this on our list to check.
