Stem bouncing by colour coding in ProTools
Hi, I have lofty goals for Soundflow but very limited knowledge.
My ultimate goal is to be able to tag (colour coding would be the most useful?) multiple groups of tracks and then task Soundflow with solo-ing & bouncing those tagged (of a certain colour) tracks through my master bus to provide stems to artists. This is a bit different to the process discussed here: https://forum.soundflow.org/-3080
I master as I mix (or at least do a significant amount of bus processing) that needs to be applied to every stem print. Currently stem bouncing for artists is time consuming due to this, plus with the unique combinations of tracks in every song required to provide useful stems, it is very hands-on. In my mind, creating a macro that can identify tracks tagged by a colour and then bouncing these tracks to the main mix output, will enable automation of this process, hopefully overnight!
I think I read somewhere that Soundflow can't identify colours in ProTools though, so I guess this could be done via a Track name tag, but that requires a bit more input/time.
Does this sound like a feasible task for Soundflow?
Thanks
Forrester

Hi Forrester,
SoundFlow can definitely do that (except for the color thing at the moment). It's actually a pretty large thing to script once you try and make it work for multiple workflows, and not something super specific.
The good news is I've been writing an app in SoundFlow for the last several months that does exactly this (again, without the colors). I still have a little ways to go before it's ready for testing but I've been using it for myself to, not only, print multiple mix version and stems within a session but to automate it across multiple sessions. I successfully printed an entire album's worth of mix passes and stems a couple weeks ago completely unattended.
I'll keep you posted!'

Well that sounds amazing Andrew. I would be definitely interested in using that. Needless to say, if you need a beta tester or anything like that, please let me know.

That would be amazing, I've been using Bounce Butler which is ok at doing this task but would love to try some alternatives!
Thanks

Andrew gave me a sneak peak at this. It's amaze-balls!

Exciting! Can't wait to try it out...

I need this Andrew!! I am making sample packs and the bouncing out of the same loop with various tracks muted is driving me a little nuts and making lots of errors after the 100th one.

We're actually in Alpha testing now, and hopefully will be able to open it up for Beta before too long...

Hi @Andrew_Scheps I'm very curious about your progress on this. @Kitch_Membery and I certainly made a fairly robust script for stem printing which has been tremendously helpful for my work. I have a few customizations I'm still yet to make to make, just haven't had a second to pull away from work.
This sounds very involved so very eager to hear it's capabilities. If you need more people testing let me know, I print stems a lot. Especially with atmos.

@Andrew_Scheps I'm also really up for testing if you need more testers!!
Both for regular stereo work and also for Dolby Atmos Music stems.Hope all goes well with the app!

Hi guys,
It's really close to beta testing. One issue is that it's impossible to beta test the app unless you're also a SoundFlow beta tester (at the moment)

Missed this.
Well in either case, I'm eager and will definitely put it through its paces if needed. Very excited to see what you've drummed up, Andrew.
