Am wondering if there's already a script out there that can route selected tracks to a new aux and assign the bussing?... perhaps even add a plugin to the aux at the same time?

Hello Dex! Great to have you here!
I have a couple of solutions up in the store that deal with this, but it does it with Routing Folders and Track Presets.
https://soundflow.org/store/raphael-sepulveda-utilitiesIt starts with the Move to New Folder command, which will move all selected tracks into a new track folder (Routing folder in this case). This command has the option to have the folder be the only track selected after the folder has been created and the tracks moved in it.
The benefit of this is chaining it with the Recall Track Preset command (also included in the package), which will do so on the first selected track. So the idea is that you'd have a track preset previously set up, which can include any plugins or sends that you'll like that track to have, and it will recall that on the newly created Routing folder.Hope that makes sense!

And if you want to have it also make groups and color code things - combine Raphael's macros with Andrews set up
(all credit to Raphael and Andrew for their wizardry)To be clear what this is doing - Select your say, drum tracks - One button or key command _ And it color codes - Groups and labels the group - Adds your routing folder (basically your aux) and a VCA if you want - Routes your drum tracks to the Folder - and then brings in your plug ins and routing out for your drum aux (with a preset) . AND if you add one more step you can also bring in your drum verbs. Just don't tell the suits it takes you 3 mins to set up a mix now ;)

Perfect example of this in action! @Kris_Crunk likes to call this combination of commands the 'holy grail' script! Haha🤘

for some reason I couldnt see the video.... I'm assuming its pure magic. I've been combing through help videos.... is this a scenario where I copy Raphael's preset into a new folder and then add this on to it?

Dex, I'll give you a walkthrough that way we cover all the basics.
- First install the Raphael Sepulveda Utilities package by searching for it in the store.
- Create a new macro by clicking here:
-
You'd need to have a custom package created previously in order to create your macros, so if you haven't already, create a package first (from that same dropdown menu) and then create the macro inside of it.
-
Inside the new macro, click on "Add Action", this will open up a search pane. In here, search for "RS_" and the commands in my package will show up. Choose the one titled "RS_Move to New Folder". This will add the command to your macro.
- Set up the command like so:
- Ok, so by now you have had set up the command that will move any tracks you have selected to a new Routing folder. Now repeat the steps for adding an action and this time search for "RS_Recall Track Preset".
- For this one, you have to input the menu path for the Track Preset you want to recall, the same way it shows up on the menu when you right-click on any track. Here's an example for the 'Rock Bus Compression' track preset that comes stock with Pro Tools:
- And this is how you would input that path into the Recall Track Preset command:
-
Last step would be to add a trigger by clicking on the "New Trigger" at the top of the screen.
-
After that, you'd have a basic configuration going! Once you get the hang of it you can chain different commands together to do more complex configurations, just like @Kris_Crunk demonstrated above!

Who knew an old ipad that wont even support the latest version of SF could change your life. It really is about wanting what you've got! ha - In reply toraphaelsepulveda⬆:JJohn Stephens @John_Stephens
Hello! This is an amazing script. Thank you for your work on this. Is it possible to do this without a routing folder? My aim is to create a new aux track that loads a plugin with preset for parallel processing. In my case, I'd like to maintain the initial output of all of my drums to a drum bus which your script works perfectly for; in addition though, I'm aiming to route just the kick, snare, toms etc to a parallel compression track that would exist outside of this drum sub folder. Is this possible? Thank you!
