Macro for automation changes?

I am very new to Javascript and I am helping an engineer build out his SF Deck. One idea I can't quite make a reality is to have SF drop automation points at the edges of the time selection and raise or lower the section between those points by a stated amount (i.e. 1dB, 2dB, etc.) Is this possible?
