Bounce from Bus

    Hey @David_Simpson!

Love the work you've done on this macro, I'm pretty certain this will totally solve my stem workflow once I tweak it to my needs a bit.

I do everything with routing folders and auxes as far as where my stems would feed from, so from what I can tell it should be possible to add the stem comments to those instead of audio tracks? I can grab some screenshots of my routing if that'll help.

Is it possible to get it to bounce through a bus instead of a physical out? I monitor through an armed audio track currently, so that I can have post-print calibration, referencing plugins etc without ever risking leaving them on.

Hey @Jack_Byrne thanks for the kind words!

I thought this might come up eventually. I can definitely add the ability to select any output from the bounce menu as well as physical outs. Would that be all you needed to get this to work?

I guess you could use the solo method of the script to solo your folders/stems so then all you would need to do is put the stem name in the comments either manually or by using the track name to comments script I’ve made.

Maybe a screenshot of your routing would be helpful too though incase I can think of anything else that might help you.

        Cheers!
        David

Yeah, that would pretty much be it, everything eventually hits a bus labelled MASTERPRINT which is pointed at my final print audio track, so that's what I need to grab, else it's just bouncing the audio of my printed final mix however many times. Comments on folder tracks make the right number of stems, all soloed and named correctly, so I assume everything else works!

I'm fairly certain that you can see all the routing you'd need to here. Folders down the bottom, they're routed to whatever aux they need to be routed to for my overall bus processing (or to go around it in the case of the FX folder) and those all eventually hit that MASTER track that just has a limiter and Pro-Q on it for the visual if I need to check something. It's the bus output of that I need to print through

The only thing I can think of in my particular case would be the option to print stems through either the MIX or the MASTER depending on if I wanted the limiter on or off. Then once I project is totally signed off on I've got one button that'll print the client mix through the limiter, the unlimited mix for the ME, and the stems (probably through the limiter, I've not had anyone ask me for stems that are actually mastered so far).

In the long term I'll probably combine this with some more session archive stuff, but I suspect I'll need to actually learn to script for that!

Hi @Jack_Byrne I've just published a new version of the package which should allow you to select any output from the bounce dialogue menu. Let me know if that works.

                        Cheers!
