Scheps track selector problems

    Hi everyone
    Seems like track selector from Andrew is unstable and doesn’t work at times
    I’ve spent like half an hour today on trying to gain time , which is really ironic.
    Anyone else have the same experience?
    I’ve loaded it and went through cache , nothing shows up in the UI, then after a few reruns it lets me search for tracks etc. but without any results. Nothing shows up in the matrix.

      Hi @Tom_Mochiach,

      I'm sorry you are experiencing an issue with the "Scheps Track Selector".

      To get help with a package created by a SoundFlow user it is best to ask in the "Packages" section of the SoundFlow User Forum.

      To learn how to do this please watch our video on "How to get help in SoundFlow" specifically the section from 4:18 “Getting Package Help”.

          Hi Tom,

          I think you’re misunderstanding the display on the app. If you use the magnifying glass icons to search, then nothing needs to be displayed in the matrix of the app. The display is for if you set a reference track to use for searching. I hope that makes sense. If you still think something isn’t working right then please do a screen recording of it failing and I’ll see what’s happening. Thanks!

                  The app did work the first time I launched it on a different session, so I think I do understand how it should work, however I’ll try again later tonight and I’ll post again. Thank you

                                I might be having the same problem as Tom, so I'm posting a link with a video that's showing what's happening. Tom, if this is a different issue than the one you're having then I can easily create a new topic so that I'm not hijacking this thread. Let me know!

                                In the video I'm trying to build the session cache three times. The reason I'm doing this is that it seems there are different things happening with the app with each pass. It ends up in the soundflow editor the second and the third time, letting me search for plugins, but then nothing happens when I type a name and hit enter.

                                    Aha, thanks for this!!! The reason it's failing is that the app itself is covering up some of the inserts. Basically, make the app small enough that the only part of the edit window it is covering up is the audio on the timeline, none of the insert, send or track height menus. Once the cache is built you can make it as big as you want.

                                    I should have mentioned this in the webinar, and I'll add it to the dialog you get while the session cache is being built, as well as an error dialog.

                                      The cache is rebuilt now. I've still got a few more questions though as the app doesn't work yet.

                                      I've recorded a video of it where I get a few "action failed" notifications when trying to select a plugin in the app itself and also when typing a plugin name in the search bar. In the video I'm also showing you the console report. Maybe this helps?

                                      PS: I've got link timeline and edit selection turned on.

                                          It switching to the SoundFlow app when you search is very strange, it definitely shouldn't be doing that.

                                          I'm almost done putting in some more error logging and a script to collect the logs so you can send them to me so I can see what's going wrong. If that doesn't give me enough info then I'll ask you to do a bug report using the SoundFlow menu which will collect all your logs, but don't do that yet. I'll post again in a minute when I've published the updated package.

                                              Ok, I've published version 1.0.1. As soon as it's approved it will be in the store. I don't know if this will fix the problem but it should at least give me some more info to work with.

                                                    While we're waiting for that to go through the system, I've been messing around with having Pro Tools and/or SoundFlow Full Screen like you do and it's causing all sorts of issues here, and not just with the app. Maybe try maximising the windows instead of going full screen and see if that helps?

                                                      Soundflow has always opened up in full screen mode on my computer, and I can't really find out how to change this..

                                                          That's odd. It remembers its size here and always opens however I left it last time.

                                                                If you hover over the top of the screen you should see the red yellow and green circles, just click the green one

                                                PS: It might not be possible, but for Atmos mixing, being able to select objects would be a timesaver.

                                                PS: PS: Would be handy to have a "show only selected tracks" button and a "restore previously shown tracks" button in the app itself.

                                                    Good idea about Objects! Other suggestions too. I'll look at adding those, the only drag is it's a pretty crowded UI already. Version 2!

                                                    1. Yes, automatically selecting all objects so that one can make a group for VCA trimming at the end of the mixing session to get -18LUFS would be very handy!

                                                          Hmm, that's actually a little outside of the scope of how the app works. I just have VCAs in place from the beginning. I'll have a think about how that might get implemented

                                                            I was just thinking about the selection of the objects inside the app. The grouping and adding the group to a VCA is easy to do outside the app of course.

                                                            What I find a bit time consuming is when I do a large atmos session that ended up having more and more objects throughout the session is that I have to manually select them (together with the object bed). It's one of those situations where you don't want to miss an object, leaving it untouched by the volume adjustments done by the VCA, so I usually double check this by going a few rounds up and down the PT project. Would be great to be able to leave this job to the Track Selector!

                                                                I thin k the issue is you're talking about selecting all tracks that are routed to any object. The app works by selecting tracks with exact routings. I think it would be easier to just write a standalone script that looks for object assignments and selects tracks. If you started a thread about it in the forums I'll bet you'd have a solution pretty quickly.
