CREATE SESSION FROM TEMPLATE
Hello to the whole community.
I am a technician at a dubbing studio and am just starting to take my first steps within soundflow.
I have already created about 20 very useful functions via macros.
I will also soon try to start writing via scripts.
First of all, thank you for the work you do!
I need help with something that is difficult for me.
I would like to create a function that automatically creates sessions for me.
But our workflow is a bit particular :).
First you need to know how I divide the various folders on my workstation:
All materials are on an external HD inside a folder called VIDEO.
Inside this folder are all the videos of the work we have going on.
So for example: folder with "Project1" in it. , folder with "Project2", folder with "Project3"...etc etc.
Now, let's say I have to create the "project1 sessions" where there are (again for example) 26 videos.
As a dubbing studio we may happen to receive 26 documentary videos and having to create 26 sessions can be a really long job.
What I would need is to create the 26 sessions by naming them after videos.
For example: VideoName1.mov = VideoName1.ptx; VideoName2.mov = VideoName2.ptx... etc etc until there are no more videos to find.
But this is where the difficulties begin.
We keep all the videos on an external HD, and under no circumstances are the materials (both video and the audio of the video) saved within the session folder.
So even when protools imports the video into the session and then asks us where to save the audio, we give it as the destination folder a folder called "AUDIO" which in turn is in a folder with all the videos in the processing.
In a nutshell soundflow should ask me at the beginning.
- where to get the videos from.
- where to save the audio from the video.
- where to save the session.
All 3 points it can only ask me at the beginning then I won't need them anymore. They will be the same for everyone.
Summarizing all the steps:
- The session must be created from our template, it must be named after the video.
- The video once imported must be brought to the TC imprinted on the video (if this can't be done, that's okay).
- The audio from the video must be saved to a different folder than the session, so not in Audio Files, but to a folder whose destination it asks me for the first time, and which will then be the same for all sessions.
- Once the audio is imported, it needs to move it to the "Original" track.
- Save and go to the next video, from here on he can proceed without any other information, because the videos always have to be taken from the same folder, the audio of the video has to be saved in the usual folder, and the other sessions go to the same usual folder.
Thank you very much to those who can help me
