ElGato StreamDeck XL and CalDigit TS4

    System Information

    SoundFlow 5.3.0

    OS: darwin 21.6.0

    ProductName: macOS
    ProductVersion: 12.6.3
    BuildVersion: 21G419

    Steps to Reproduce

    1. My streamdeck seems to always disconnect when plugged in at the front powered USB-A of my TS4 HUB. It is as though it gets it’s power interrupted or something (or too much power instead?) after about 1min or so. I don’t get this issue when plugged in directly, or to another caldigit tb4 element hub. There the connection is always stable when plugged in via an Apple adapter usb-a to usb-c.

In addition, when Soundflow loses the connection, if I launch the streamdeck oficial app it reconnects to it fine. But when this happens with soundflow, at the bare minimum i have to quit and launch soundflow again, but more often than not i have to unplug it out and back in again for Soundflow to recognise it. This does not happen with the StreamDeck application.

    Expected Result

I would expect for it NOT to disconnect seeing as the StreamDeck app knows its still plugged in.

    Actual Result

    Always disconnects after 1min

    Workaround

    N/A

    Other Notes

    N/A

    1. Hi Denis,

      Please see this article:
      https://soundflow.org/docs/help/stream-deck

It's possible the Stream Deck app has additional ways to control this behavior, but SoundFlow is limited to what macOS allows us to connect to.

          Hi Christian.

Sure I understand it could be of a similar or related issue. Saying that, the TS4’s frontal USB-A port provides plenty of power to the Stream Deck XL I would have thought. It’s a powered TB4 hub with 100W or something ridiculous like that :D. And as I mentioned this does not happen with the Stream Deck oficial app. In fact, the oficial app seems to wake it up or kick it off from this stuck state which SoundFlow seems to leave it in. So I’m not entirely convinced that it’s just power issues alone. The TB4 elements hub does not seem to provide this issue. So I’m wondering if there is more than meets the eye (some sort of software incompatibility at the SoundFlow front, perhaps? Not sure!).

          1. Hi Denis,

All of the details we have about this issue currently are in the article we shared.
