Soundflow and Single Elgato Streamdeck XL
Hello,
I am a producer who uses Ableton for production purposes and ProTools mainly for mixing (and I am rather new to it). I am using other apps like Sessionwire for remote collaboration purposes, and RIPx for separating stems.
I followed a YouTube video from you guys and went for allowing Soundflow to control my Elgato Streamline XL deck. But I now realise that this option does let me have control of other profiles with quick actions I use (for example to take a screenshot or open Finder). I tried to follow instructions from the forum on how to create a profile in my Elgato Streamline (and I did this) but I can’t figure out how to assign a deck or a package to one of the black keys with the grey soundflow button that have appeared under the Soundflow profile.
-
Do I have to somehow stop Soundflow from controlling my Streamdeck? If so, how do I do this?
-
How do I install packages or decks under my Soundflow profile in my Streamline software?
Links to videos or webpages are welcome.
Thanks so much,

Hi Yannis,
Thanks for taking the conversation here to the forum.
But I now realise that this option does let me have control of other profiles with quick actions I use (for example to take a screenshot or open Finder)
You're right that it's an option to choose between either using the SoundFlow app or the Stream Deck app to control your Stream Decks.
I give a bit more context in this response:
Take only one of two streamdecks #post-8And here:
Is there a way to switch between the soundflow and streamdeck software? #post-5Depending on your situation, the choice is between:
a) Use SoundFlow for everything in your Stream Decks. You get all the benefits of SoundFlow's easy integration, but you'd have to remake the macros for stuff like taking a screenshot or opening Finder in SoundFlow. This should be quite trivial though.
b) Use the Stream Deck app and SoundFlow. This is more complex to set up, and you lose a lot of the parts of SoundFlow where installing decks will just work out of the box.If you choose the 2nd option, you'll indeed need to tell SoundFlow to stop controlling your Stream Decks. To do that, click the SoundFlow icon, choose Set up your Stream Deck, and choose using the Stream Deck app.
Please note that we generally don't recommend using the two apps together due to the much higher level of complexity of setting things up this way (which we are not in control of).
There's a guide here which explains how to do this (be sure to scroll down to the old implementation, where things work via the Stream Deck app):
How to set up SoundFlow + Stream DeckThe two videos included in that link also give more information about the various options.

Hi again,
Thanks for the swift and detailed response. However, I am still struggling to make a deck (e.g. an editable copy of the Pro Tools 5x3) to show in button format on my Stream Deck app.
Yes, it shows on the Stream Deck unit when I click on Show Deck in Soundflow, but not on the app itself. I will upload a screenshot. Thank again!

Hi again, I think I figured it out now. While no items show in the Stream Deck App, the deck from Soundflow does show on the actual Stream Deck when I choose the Soundflow Full Screen XL from the profile in the Stream Deck app.

Exactly. This is one way to integrate the two apps, to use our Full Screen Profiles, which essentially just allow SoundFlow to temporarily send its decks to the Stream Deck (dynamically, and will not be shown inside the Stream Deck app, as you discovered).
That being said, it can get complicated/problematic when setting up triggers for different applications, so it's still worth it to figure out if the functionality you're using in the Stream Deck app is truly impossible to build in SoundFlow.
Having everything in SF would allow you to travel with your setup, for example, so that you can log in to any computer having SF installed and immediately have access to everything with no further setup.
Either way, it sounds like you've gotten past the initial hurdle.
