Keep getting no connection to backend issue
Keep getting no connection to backend issue
System Information
SoundFlow 5.1.0
OS: darwin 19.6.0
ProductName: Mac OS X
ProductVersion: 10.15.7
BuildVersion: 19H1824
Steps to Reproduce
- Select click ui element, pick. Then get the message.
- Also happened with trying to record key presses
Expected Result
It should allow me to do the task
Actual Result
It doesn't work
Workaround
Closing soundflow and reopening gets it to work temporarily. But the issue comes up again
Other Notes
This has been happening to me frequently with version 5. Never has this issue with version 4.
There are several more issues like this where soundflow essentially stops working, for eg, editing a deck. And it always says no connection to backend.

Hi Justin,
I'm sorry to see that you're having this issue.
My first guess would have been that the backend process would crash or restart, but that's not what's happening here it seems.
I can see that the backend process has been running since April 29 and hasn't been restarted though. If you encounter this, one workaround would be to quit SF entirely by going to the SF icon up by the clock, then choose Quit, then relaunch from Applications.
That being said, of course this shouldn't happen, but it doesn't look like we've seen anybody else have this particular issue. Would you be able to do a screen recording next time this happens and then do another bug report? (You can attach a screen recording by uploading to google drive or dropbox and paste the link as a comment).
By having the screen recording (including the clock in the top right corner) we will be able to compare what you're seeing visually with the timestamps in the log so we can hopefully figure out exactly where this error occurs and why. There is also the possibility this has to do with updating SoundFlow in-place from v4 to v5 - please follow the steps in this post to see if it helps (important to follow all steps):

Justin, just wanted to check in to hear if you're still seeing this?
- JJustin Spasevski @Justin_Spasevski
Hi Christian, thanks for checking in!
To answer from the last post, I don't have any firewall enabled, or more than one mac user logged in.
I tried resetting my modem as well but was still able to reproduce the error. I'm currently wired in via ethernet and I also connect to my wifi from a Unifi wifi access point.Another oddity I noticed is that when selecting 'edit macros & shortcuts' from the toolbar, soundflow app opens but no window displays.
I have to manually select "Window" -> "New Window" for the editor to pop up. Not sure if that helps?Ultimately, all my macros still execute without issue when working. So the error is only when editing or creating new macros, not a dealbreaker.
I'll be looking to upgrade my system later in the year with a fresh install of macOS so hopefully that will resolve the issue. But let us know if you have any other ideas in the meantime.
Thank you!
Justin
