SF stops reacting to keyboard input for unknown reasons

    System Information

    SoundFlow 5.4.8

    OS: darwin 22.6.0

    ProductName: macOS
    ProductVersion: 13.6
    BuildVersion: 22G120

    Steps to Reproduce

This is the bad part - I have no idea, it just stops working after a while and I haven't figured out a cause.

    Expected Result

SF reacting to keyboard input as usual, incl recoding keystrokes

    Actual Result

Keyboard not triggeing SF commands, keystrokes aren't recorded when creating new macros

    Workaround

    Rebooting

    Other Notes

I hate submitting feedback like this but I'm at my wit's end. It started happening out of the blue a few days ago; I cannot track it to any big system changes either :(

    1. Is it only keyboard triggers that stop working, but scripts can still be run in other ways? For example through the Editor window, or from other trigger types?

      Workaround
      Rebooting

Is it enough to reboot SoundFlow (click SF icon -> Quit, then launch from Applications) or do you need to reboot the entire computer?

      Have you tried reinstalling SoundFlow?

You may also need to clear your OS's security cache and reinstall and re-authorize keyboard permissions. See here for more info:

Hi Christian, thank you for the swift reply.

It's just the keyboard, MIDI, Deck buttons or Application triggers still work.
Rebooting SF itself doesn't help, computer reboot is needed.
Tried reinstalling and also clearing the cache now.

Strangely the SF editor itself is reacting to keypresses (F1 calls up help, cmd+D duplicates the command...), but when I'm to record a keystroke, none gets registered.

          1. Thanks for the details. It sounds like it's the global keyboard events that macOS stops firing to SF.

Tried reinstalling and also clearing the cache now.

Please let me know if you're still seeing the issue after following the instructions in the thread I linked to.

Hi Christian, the issue seems to have gone away - I'm not sure what did it as it persisted when I followed the linked instructions first time around, but upon second try and also an update to macOS 13.6.1 things have been smooth so far.

I'll report back in case of troubles.

                Thank you!
