Can't find my track presets when soundflow is running
System Information
SoundFlow 5.0.5
OS: darwin 19.6.0
ProductName: Mac OS X
ProductVersion: 10.15.7
BuildVersion: 19H1713
Steps to Reproduce
- With sound flow running, my track presets are not available in the new track dialogue. So any scripts that call upon those track presets fail. When I restart Pro Tools with SoundFlow OFF, my track presets are again available. . . but that of course doesn't help much.
Expected Result
scripts should work
Actual Result
scripts fail
Workaround
No. Just to turn off sound flow

Hi Gary,
Ugh that doesn't sound good (and unfortunately sounds like a Pro Tools bug). Can you share a screenshot of how this looks inside PT?
Gary Philips @Gary_Philips
You'll see that there is no arrow next to the Carbon and WildHoney folders. . . when sound flow is off, there is an one can access those presets. You may also notice that the pop up menus, despite the system being in Dark Mode, are in light mode. When sound flow is off, the pop up menus return to Dark Mode.
But you can see here that the track preset folders are in their normal place and PT recognizes them:

Thank you, Gary. This is very helpful.
Unfortunately, the menu issue is under Avid's control, so to fix it, changes will need to made to Pro Tools. We can't fix this on the SoundFlow side. I'll pass the information on. While the menu issue generally is well known, this is the first I hear of it presenting itself as limiting the track presets functionality.

Just a quick question: If you select any of the folders that don't have arrows, does a secondary popup menu button become available by any chance, where you can choose the preset?
Christian Scheuer @chrscheuer2022-02-22 01:24:14.532Z
Hm, interestingly, this appears to work fine on my end.
@Chris_Shaw, I know you've been working quite a bit with Track Presets. Have you seen this kind of issue?
Chris Shaw @Chris_Shaw2022-02-22 16:26:07.617Z
It’s definitely a PT bug. Having presets and folders in the same directory borks the track preset dialogs.

No. No secondary pop up menu appears.

@Gary_Philips, you can read more about this issue in this thread: Track presets in New Track dialog not working
"...due to how the accessibility menus behave we're limited to only choosing folders that do not have nested folders inside..."
Also worth noting:
"I had a curious situation recently where my track presets weren’t working and I found there was a random melodyne folder within my presets folder when I checked it out in finder. Dunno how it got there, but when I trashed it, the presets started working in PT again."

I’d like to see another snapshot of your works space/track preset windows with the Carbon and WildHoney folders collapsed. I can’t tell if there is a preset on its own in the same directory as those folders. This prevents being able to see inside those folders. In other words, a track preset folder can only contain folders or presets, not both.
Gary Philips @Gary_Philips
here it is with folders collapsed
That said, once we're inside those subfolders, the Carbon and WildHoney folders have no further sub folders, but the Avid folder does

Looking closer, I see you have a Melodyne folder inside of the WildHoney folder. Does removing it help?
Gary Philips @Gary_Philips
Yes. Removing the melodyne folder solved the new track dialogue problem.
